LA COUNTER/MONITOR

An LA counter, also known as a lightning arrester counter or surge counter, is a device used to monitor the number of times a lightning arrester has discharged.

Purpose:

• Assess Arrester Health: By tracking the number of discharges, the counter helps determine the health and remaining service life of the lightning arrester. Frequent discharges may indicate potential degradation or the need for replacement.
• System Monitoring: Provides valuable data for system maintenance and planning, allowing for proactive replacement of arresters before they fail.
• Fault Analysis: Helps in identifying the frequency and severity of overvoltage events in the power system.
